The following trailer is a community project created by student and volunteer artists for Dominance War V. It represents this year’s theme and pays homage to its historic champions. This is the first in what is hoped to become an annual project for students and pros to share ideas and to make something cool! It will get better and better in the year's ahead... Special thanks to the TEAM who helped make this first trailer happen!
 
 
Immortality! We strive for it, we long for it, we fight for it. For as long as we can remember, we have even died for it. But what is immortality?

We have always believed that our goals, our beliefs and our ideals, when forced on others through Victory of War - had ever, lasting, meaning. Because in being remembered, we ourselves became gods. But we were wrong...

After centuries of war - they finally came. To guide us? To punish us? To destroy us!? We do not know. But what we do know is that the results of this immortal war, will shape the universe forever more. Come, join us, for a final chapter in the legendary series, Dominance War V... The Rise of GODS.
 
 
Create a powerful GOD that shall defeat all other gods and determine the future of the universe forever more!! Your God must symbolize one exceptional trait - God of War, God of Machines, God of Peace, Demonic God of Chaos, God of Torment, God of Love, God of Mercy, God of Swords, etc. The design and style of your GOD can be made in any fashion, except cartoons. Here are examples of what NOT to do - 1, 2, etc. Additionally, NO real/known gods (Allah, Brahman, Elohim, Jesus Christ, Waheguru, etc) or current fantasy gods (from Dungeons & Dragons, etc) can be used for this challenge. You must invent a God from scratch and from your imagination. Show us why your GOD is THEE GOD of ALL!! The time period for this challenge is set in the utterly destroyed and distant future.

World standings await the best designed GOD! Be it for fun, for practice or to show the world your skills, Good luck to all those brave enough to enter!


 



Everything for this challenge must be made from scratch. No pre-existing ideas, sketches, drawings, base meshes, or pre-made models.
Keep gore and nudity to a decent level please! Don’t get DW banned in various countries!
You can join any team. Example, if you participated with team leewiART.com in the pre-DW challenge, you can join CGSociety.org for Rise of Gods.
If you join two or three categories, they must all belong to the same team. Example, if you join 3dtotal for 3d character art, you cannot make a 2d or animation entry for team GameArtisans.
Anyone may join Dominance War V - The Rise of Gods.
This is a wip (work in progress) based challenge. Posting your w.i.p art in your chosen forum is ABSOLUTLY MANDATORY. Artists who show no work till the end may be disqualified.
You can use any 3d, 2d, or animation software package in the world to create your entry. You can also use traditional mediums like pencil, paper, paint, etc.
Only 1 entry per person per category (3d Character, Concept Art, Character Animation). Do not try to create multiple entries with different user names.
No Teams, groups or collaborations. Everything must be made by 1 single person.
Artists wishing to enter both 3d and concept art categories, must create a new idea for each entry. Example, if you make a War God for the 3d category, do not make another similar God of War for the concept art category.
Final submissions are final. Make sure you are happy with your image before you submit it into the system.
Judging: Public voting to find each team's best entries, starts May 23rd and will continue for 7 days to end on May 30th. After each team's best are found, they will be gathered together into a single pool, and professional judges will then find this year's Dominance War V World Champions.
Soft Deadline: Public voting begins midnight May 23rd - Eastern Time. Artists may hand in submissions many days later, but the more late you are, the less voters will see and vote for your entry. Remember, each unique voter is only able to vote once per team per category. If you loose all the intense and curious initial voters in the first two days, it's almost impossible to place in the final standings. Finish early or on time, or else...

3d Entry Guidelines
Up to 12,500 tris max for everything (everything = characters, laser beams, shield effects, glows, other special effects, magical weapon, gear, steed(s), pet(s), twin(s), multiple characters, summoned monsters, personal equipment, etc).
Important: You must include your team's logo emblem, OR colors, OR both, on your character's skin, gear, clothing or weapons. If logo is placed on character, it must be visible on your character. Texture Sheets allowance:
  2048x2048 diffuse
2048x2048 Normal map
2048x2048 Specular color
2048x2048 Specular level
2048x2048 Glow
2048x2048 Opacity
2048x2048 Ambient color
Important - You can not break your 2048 sheets into smaller sheets.
All lighting solutions from any software package is permitted.
All shaders are permitted.
2-sided polies with two separate uv channels are permitted.
  Your Presentation Pedestal's Budget:
ALL 3d entries must include a pedestal in their Presentation Image. You have unrestricted polygons and textures to create a pedestal with the following guidelines:
A pedestal is NOT a floor and/or it is NOT a room. It's a block, pillar, box, crate, stone slab, etc. Pedestal Examples: Hela by Chang Gun Nam | The Mole by Rémi Monier
No additional weapons or gear that your character can pick up and use can be put on the pedestal.
No additional characters, pets, animals, pieces of characters, dead characters, etc, can be put on your pedestal. Bones and skulls are fine.
 
3d Submission Guidelines
Main Final Image
You are free to do whatever post effects you like on this image. You can create multiple angles of your character or just one big version of your character. You can include painted environments, skies, effects.. basically, anything!

Dimensions: Up to 1200w x 1000h pixels and 350k file size.

Presentation Shot
This image must contain one full front pose and one full back pose of your character. Poses must be placed on one large or two small pedestals. Post effects from 3d softwares or 2d programs like Photoshop are NOT allowed in this image. The only adjustments allowed are: Brightness/ Contrast, Levels, Sharpness, and Hue/Saturation. Background must be a flat textured (grainy, etc) image or a pure or gradient color. You cannot put any objects, stars, things, fire, or people in your background.

Dimensions: Up to 1200w x 1000h pixels and 350k file size.

Construction (wireframe) Shot
This image should depict how your character was made. You can include wireframe shots, high res models, multiple angles or just one big wire frame shot.

Texture Sheet
It is mandatory to squeeze your diffuse and normal maps onto this "one" image. You can show additional maps if you are inclined (reflection, transparency, bump, specular etc).

Concept Sheet (Only if you have a concept)
Any preliminary sketches, concepts, paintings, or photo references that helped you create your 3d character can be shown on this single sheet.

Concept Art Entry Guidelines
Create and design a Mighty God.
Important: You must include your team's logo emblem, OR colors, OR both, on your character's skin, gear, clothing or weapons. If logo is placed on character, it must be visible on your character. If colors, your character should posses obvious clothing color tones of your chosen team. For logos and colors, visit - Here
If multiple characters are created in your main colored illustration, please place clear emphasis on who is your main character. Additionally, Don't create a massive spell effect and place your main character in the distant background as a tiny dot.
Your main illustrations must show 90% of your character. It would be a bad idea to hide half his/her body behind a wall, a door, in a hole, etc. If one leg is hidden behind a horse or mount, it is fine. Creating a top view of a character so that mostly his/her face is seen is not a great idea for this challenge.
 
Concept Art Submission Guidelines
Final Concept
A final illustrated concept of your glorious Dominance War V God. You can use any 2d software package and/or any traditional mediums like acrylics, color pencils, and oil paints to create this image.
Dimensions: Up to 1200w x 1000h pixels and 350k file size.

Modeling Sheet
An Illustrated modeling sheet that shows at least 3 angles of your character. Choices include: Front, right, left, perspective, closeup(s), and/or back view.

Workflow Sheet
Showcase a step-by-step process of how you made your final illustration. You may also Include a few sketches showing the different ideas that led up to your final main design. Example:

Animation Entry Guidelines
Create a 20 seconds debut/entry for your GOD! It must be a spectacular entrance that symbolizes his status as a God. Perhaps your God comes from underground, perhaps a cult of worshippers chant him into existence, perhaps he just materializes and takes form from the clouds themselves, it's up to you. Make it suspenseful, make it dramatic, or make is epic, we want to be awed and inspired!
Mandatory: Use and rig ONE of the above 3d base meshes for your God. Do not create your own unique God.
No textures or coloring allowed. No Transparencies allowed. Each Mesh/object, should be a single solid color.
Sound fx and music are allowed for this challenge. However, please don't infringe copyrights to create your entry. Search the Internet for free sound and free music sources.
You may NOT alter the base mesh, but you may add up to 1,000 extra tris for your character's gear, clothing, appendages, and/or weapons. Optional: At your discretion, you may modify and add more lines/topology to the joints of your God if it helps his/her movement in your animation. This joint modification does not count towards your 1,000 extra tris.
Props: You can add as many additional props, beings, or animals as you want to depict your 20 seconds intro, however, each individual item must be no more than 750 tris max. Example, if you make a table, its tri count should be 750 tris max. If you make nine humans, they must each be less than 750 tris. This restriction is in place to prevent animators from modeling extraordinary stuff. Make your items suggestive and concentrate on what this category is all about.... animation and an inspiring moment in history!
All lighting solutions and rendering solutions from any software package is allowed.
Particle systems are allowed. Use solid mesh planes to depict your particle system(s). Physic modifiers are also allowed.
Glows, lens flares, fire, smoke, etc, anything with color and fluid tone (example, a laser beam effect) are not allowed. Use polygons/tris with zero transparency to make your effects.
Motion Blur is allowed.
20-seconds maximum for entire clip. The 20 seconds "must" start immediately when the animation begins. after 20 seconds, you have the option of adding up to an additional minute (60 seconds) for scene break down, credits, animation tests, etc.
Important: Your animation presentation must include your team's logo emblem and the name of your God and type, (Orionus - God of War, Celine - God of Love etc) in your animation. It can be on the floor, it can be as an overlay that frames your animation, it's up to you. Animation Submission Guidelines
Final Thumbnail Image
A final thumbnails that depicts a frame/shot from your animation. Do not post a forum avatar, self photo, or dummy image to showcase your animation.
Dimensions: Up to 200w x 200h pixels and 30k file size.

Animation footage
Animations should be uploaded onto Youtube or similar site and you must paste the embed url to your animation in the submissions page for animation. Important, please preview your submission to make sure your animation link works and shows properly.
 



 
Dominance War is open to all artists in all countries.
 
You retain all rights, ownerships, and/or copyrights for your work. All art, sketches, and photographs submitted in or during Dominance War V remains yours to do with as you wish.
 
Judges' decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
 
Any image deemed to contain content that depicts violence, racial, political, religious, sexual or any other inflammatory material in an inappropriate manner may be disqualified and removed. Interpretation of what is, and is not, appropriate material is the sole discretion of Dominance War and/or its appointed agents.
 
Dominance War will not be held responsible for late or missing entries for any reason whatsoever. It is the sole responsibility of the entrants to make reasonable allowances for upload times and to plan accordingly.
 
Our sponsors are responsible for sending prizes to the winners. Dominance War cannot be held responsible, nor can we provide a substitute in case prizes are no longer available or if the sponsors have retracted their sponsorship at any time during or after the challenge.  
Dominance War reserves the right to cancel, extend or amend any part of Dominance War V’s rules, prizes, or deadlines in any manner at its sole discretion with or without prior notice.
